When your past calls, don’t answer…it has nothing new to say.

When I pulled the card of the day, I was hoping for a card that was wonderful and inspiring but we do not always get what we want, we get what we need.
card 001

The three of swords can indicate heartbreak, loneliness and betrayal. Clearly this is a card from my past. It may be a card from you past. That lover that just took your heart and stomped on it, leaving you feeling lost and alone. Maybe it was a relative that betrayed your trust leaving you not sure if you would every quite look at the world the same way. A card that strips our innocence due to the overflowing pain that we feel from a particular situation, leaving us changed forever, sometimes bitter, unhappy and hopeless. Atlas, I have certainly been there.

The good news in all of this, is that you have the power to choose to stand up, wipe the dust off and go on. You can let this be a lesson learned and capture that energy and hold it to keep you down or look at it and let it go, move on and let this world give you the good things that you so deserve. Leave the past in the past, deal with it if you need to and move on.

If you need a little help to heal from the past, here are a couple of things to try:
Try burning Rosemary oil or incense to heal a broken heart
Lay flat on the floor or your bed and place an onyx pyramid on your body for 15 minutes to draw out negative emotions
Hang wind chimes outside your door to ward off negative spirits

Prosperity ~ Know you can and will have all the things you desire.

Prosperity comes in many forms, be careful not to be blinded as to receive it only in the form of green paper, you may be missing more than you know.
~Lisa Curley

prosperituy 001

Sometimes it seems like we are in a rut. Nothing is going right, everything is wrong. We struggle to find bus fare, find enough change for that cup of coffee as we stumble through the day. Bills pile up, debt collectors are constantly blowing up our phone as we wonder, “How did they get our number anyways?” We feel like victims and wonder when our ship will come in. Well, I am here to tell you it will come in as soon as you decide to “man” the sail. Get behind the wheel and bring it into shore, your shore.

Sounds silly, but the thoughts that we worry about, such as money and finances, keep us from getting those exact things. For instance if we say “I NEED money to pay for my cable bill.” You are telling the universe that you want to want to need the money, it does not imply that you’d like the bill to be marked paid.

Try making a simply statement such as: “Prosperity, Come to Me, So Mote it Be!” send it out and let it go and the most important thing is not to dwell any longer on it. Know that it is in the works. To enhance this, you could light a green candle before the waning moon and say the same intention.

Citrine is a great crystal to carry to bring prosperity into your life. Carry it in you pocket on all your endeavors.

It’s all in how you view everything…..

, , , , , ,

We like to look at things in black and white polarities. Are you a GOOD Witch or a BAD Witch, they will often ask. This isn’t Wizard of Oz people!…. At a very young age we are taught to be a good little girl or boy, that we shouldn’t be bad. Bad of course is the standard that the person with more power or control has over you. In the beginning, it started with our parents regardless of how loving they were. Many times growing up I was told to “Stop being a Dreamer.” “It is unproductive,” they would tell me but wasn’t Albert Einstein a Dreamer? Can you imagine what the world would be like if he had stopped dreaming?
The same applies to the view on whether or not the glass is half empty or is it half full? In this simple process we attract either positive or negative energy to ourselves. Positive and negative not meaning good or bad just different but one can seem like life is handing us an easier route just on how we view things.
half empty
We need to stop and look what we are attracting into our lives and if it is not what we want or like, we need to change our stinking thinking.
Having a tarot reading can be similar, there are cards that seem scary and even bad but it is all in how you and the reader view the cards. Take for example the Death Card. What can be scarier then seeing a grim reaper? But what the card actually signifies is an ending, which in itself can be a welcomed blessing depending on the situation and regardless with every ending comes a new beginning and a chance to start anew.

Even the ten of wands which can mean disagreement and struggles looks quite different with a caption, though still means struggle ūüôā

Just Believe….

Just Believe!

fool 001

I can remember believing in so much as a young child. I had imaginary friends, brought goodies to the faeries, and knew that when I grew up that I wanted to be a princess or a witch or maybe both. I was extremely close to my grandfather at this age and visits to his wonderful farm in upper New York state encouraged my creativity. I was afraid of nothing and knew only love, pure love.

When I was a teenage living in extreme hard conditions, I would tell¬†my mother ¬†to just believe, that things would work out and even though I doubt that she really ever believed me, they always did. Maybe because I believed. Now being a parent facing the economy hardships, I tell myself that things will work out…. sometimes I believe and sometimes I do not. Maybe it’s because I get in that panic mode or maybe it’t the ego I’ve aquired from this world that kicks in and makes me doubt… I am human. Even witches are human ūüôā I have to say that when I do believe, that things seem to fall in place a lot easier. Maybe they are not where I WANT them to be, maybe I do not have all the things that I WANT to have but I do have what I need. When one door closes, another one opens.

Today’s card is THE FOOL**. It represents that ability to trust, and that’s it, just trust. In other words “Believe” and leave it at that. Don’t think about it after, or worse what may or may not happen, just let it go and let it be. Trust that you will not always have everything that you WANT but will have what you need, stop…no I mean it, stop. Get out of that panic mode. After all, even if you panic, it does not make it better but many times, makes it worse. Don’t believe me? When you worry, you are stressing, stressing raises your blood pressure, causes anxiety and makes you sick. I know, it isn’t that easy to just believe. I understand that. So cause a diversion! Do something! Exercise, watch a movie, make something, go to the park and touch a tree (laugh all you want but it calms you down, don’t believe me? try it.)

The fool suggests to us to be spontaneous, to go with the flow, to be trusting and have faith. If you look at the card above you see the scarecrow chasing the butterfly and almost going over the cliff. You say there is fire below and how can that be good? Remember the scarecrow has no brain and therefore he has no ego to tell him that he can’t. He isn’t thinking that he will fall to the fire below, he actually believes that he can fly after the butterfly.

what if

This card suggests that it is time to get back to nature, go outside, go to the woods, the beach. Be more spiritual, try yoga or meditation and just be… but mostly believe. Start small, know that when you flick that light switch, it will turn the light bulb on, unless of course the bulb is burnt out which is a reminder that you should be spontaneous but to also use common sense.

Turn that frown upside down….

, , , ,

the sun 001

I can remember my parents saying this to me as a child. I used to hardly smile and many times I can recall them saying that my face was going to stay that way, permanently indented with a frown. I wonder if it ever occurred to them that I was just…not…happy. Suffering from depression most of my childhood and adult life, I often think back at to what would have made a difference. What would have made me…happy? ¬†Would I have been happy if they had stayed together? Would I have been better if the bully in middle school had just left me alone? Would I be happy if the man that I truly fell in love with had meant “forever” when he said his vows that glorious day so long ago? The answer is NO!

The truth about depression is that other people cannot fix it for ourselves. We often think that we will feel better if someone just loves us, because honestly, it just feels good to have someone love us. It works the same way when we try to compensate for our bad feelings, low self esteem, and blues by spending too much money, eating too much, having an over active sexual life style, etc., etc., the list goes on. And isn’t it funny how we avoid the things that we know will help, like exercise, yoga, eating healthy, spending time with friends, creating. It’s like we are living in a quick fix world.

I have used Vitamin D to help with Depression the last few years and it has helped more than most anti-depressants ever did. Now I am not saying to go off your medication if you are on some. It can help and that should be between you and your doctor, but if you live in the Northeast, especially, than you are deprived of Sun for a good part of the year and the Sun is the way that we receive the most Vitamin D. You can ask your doctor to do a blood test to see what your levels are and they can tell you what dosage you should start with. It could make a world of difference.

I bring all of this up as I have not been depressed in quite some time but as for today I find myself in quite the funk. No motivation, feeling kind of sick, and just down. Searching for the answers as how to remove this energy and help myself to feel better, I reach for my sage stick and cleanse my space and myself, then pull a card from a deck of Tarot.

The Sun** – what a wonderful card to pull on such a day. It suggests wholeness and vitality. Things have been hard but they are coming into play. Just like the Sun grows plants and flowers, it also grows the seeds that we sow and have put into play. Our time is coming. Feel the warmth of the Sun on your face, its refreshing but also breaths life into your spirit. Keep this feeling inside your heart and know that you are working for a brighter tomorrow. Times may seem tough now but they will get better. You’re day is coming.

Meanwhile, treat yourself wonderful. Do a facial or bath in some wonderful healing bath salts (available at http://www.broomstickmagick.com/spell-kits.html) Eat healthy, drink lots of water and show gratitude in everything you do. Relax and remember that sadness will pass and tomorrow is just around the corner. If all else fails, be calm and call for a tarot reading.

Stop and take time to smell the roses!

We live in a busy world, between cell phones beeping with notifications of text messages, cars with drivers eager to arrive at their destination because they left the house ten minutes late as¬†time slipped away while they were busy catching up on their facebook. You hardly hear of anyone describing the fragrance of a field of wild flowers or looking at the images in the clouds. Our busy world has made us all robots. Instead of calling mom on Mother’s Day, many of this generation will text the message or leave a wonderful icon on her facebook page. We have become creatures of our environment. The techno generation.

ghosts 001

The card that has been chosen for this day is the **Three of Ghosts. In other traditional decks this would be the Three of Cups. It is a time of excitement and good news, a time of celebration and bringing together IN PERSON friends and community. It is the time to celebrate the ones that mean the most to you, the ones that have been there in your need of time, the ones that you have supported and loved unconditionally. This card makes me think of the latest commercial for Midori (you can see the commercial by going to Midori’s Facebook page, and if you have friends who ‘shine’ you could even enter their contest. Please only 21 and older) ¬†Though I am not much of a drinker, the commercial advertises that they are looking for a group of friends that like to gather. In the commercial they all are smiling, holding their glass in the air toasting each other, laughing and having fun. The point is that it is a group that has come together to have a good time, to celebrate their friendship. We need that in our life and in our community.

“Seek out like minded folks who share the same interests with you, whether it be crafts, playing a sport, singing, or others that support your choices of interest.”

Today is the day to come together as a community or group and celebrate that friendship. Tell (not text) those people what they mean to you, raise a toast to celebrate your friendship. Laugh and have fun but most importantly, stop and take time to smell the roses, the good in your life. Show that gratitude for what you DO have.

“Friendship is born at that moment when one person says to another,¬†“What! You too?¬†I thought I was the only one” ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬†~C.S. Lewis

Following our “Inner” Auto-pilot

the chariot 001

The card of the day¬†is “The Chariot.” ¬†In this particular setting, The Chariot tells us to take a self assessment. Take a good look at what is working for us and what is not, but more importantly, what is making us happy, and what is making us miserable? Is there anything at this time that we can change to make it better? Are you having doubts about something that you have put into action and are having second thoughts about it? If the answer is yes, the following message is for you:

Now is the time to apply our internal strength to overcome a seemingly impossible situation. Our inner strength has the capacity to drive us forward, helping us to engage rather than be defeated during times immense challenge. If used in productive ways, the shadow aspect of our psyches can help us to overcome conscious insecurities that may surface during compromising situations. Remember that the shadow is a built-in survival mechanism, there to guide our instincts when the conscious mind is overwhelmed with fear.

The Chariot also tells us that happiness is right around the corner, our victory is coming (even though at this very moment it may not feel like it). It is almost like we are riding home with honors after coming back from a battle. Battles can be seen as different things such as a fight/breakup with a significant other, changing your job or a difficult move.

Find your inner strength and let it steer you to your course. Do not neglect your responsibilities but know that what you are doing now will sow the seeds for a brighter tomorrow even if that isn’t how you are feeling at this very moment.

Getting Unstuck.

I woke up this morning feeling a little depressed. It seems like this summer has been off to a slow start and I am not feeling as accomplished as I would like to feel. I am feeling STUCK. Things are moving at what seems to be a snail’s pace and being the impatient person that I am, I would like to zip into the future, by passing all the work that I must first get through. Having a tremendous pity party for myself, gulping down my tea and running out the door, I ran off to catch the bus. I soon realized that I didn’t have enough money on my bus card for my return visit, and forgetting to grab cash. I immediately started to panic about how I would return home.

Up ahead, a man and assuming his daughter, rushed across the street, in front of the traveling bus, pulling it to the side so that they may get on. Apparently, I was not the only one in a panic. Grumpily, the charming bus driver barked at them, “Are you catching the bus.” The man was confused and asked the bus driver if this was the right bus to get to a certain place, and all the bus driver could say was “not really.” “Hello Mr. Bus Driver, help this poor man and his daughter. Tell him what bus to catch, I know what bus to catch, isn’t it¬†your job to please help them?” He must have heard my silent pleas and finally told them where and what bus to catch. Maybe I wasn’t the only one starting off a little rough this morning.

As I went through the morning, I took observation to how people greeted one another, or didn’t. I thought that I would try and turn my day around along with some other unknowing victim’s, and made obnoxious efforts to smile and say hello to strangers that I quickly passed on my journey. It is amazing how much your heart can seem lifted after a return smile. This was my way to get “unstuck.” ¬†Sometimes I will buy myself flowers, or just stop to admire them. Sometimes, I write thank you notes to helpful people doing their jobs but being friendly about it and willing to go that extra mile without looking like it is causing them pain. Gratitude is always a great way to get unstuck. I walked home from my adventure out. The weather was beautiful, the sun shown bright, the trees waved their branches at me and a bird jumped down to say hi. Nature is a great way to get unstuck. The point is, is that when we are feeling a bit off, do not¬†get overwhelmed. Take a deep breath. Acknowledge it and move on. Do something to get unstuck, something simple, something silly but something.

It’s time to take stock and start working toward your dream.

rewards 001

Seven of Pentacles is the card of the day. This card suggests that you take an assessment of your surroundings, but also take a good look at yourself. What is working for you in your life? What is dragging you down or keeping you from moving toward your dreams. Now is the time to cut the ties that bind, it is time to make a direction change and with your own work and dedication, you will reap the rewards that this world has to offer you. So ask yourself this, what are you waiting for?
